Nancy M. Lips, 74

December 14, 2023

Nancy M. (Habecker) Lips, 74, of Lancaster, was welcomed into the gates of heaven on December 14, 2023. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Joseph G. Sr., and Alice Jane (Maynard) Habecker. Nancy was the devoted wife to George Lips, of Lancaster, for over 44 years.

She will be remembered for her loving and generous spirit. She was always friendly and willing to help anyone in need. Growing up on a farm, Nancy developed a love for animals, which she carried through her life. Nancy was a long-time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where she also served as a Eucharistic Minister with George. Most importantly, Nancy was devoted to her family. She made it a point to stay in contact with all her family and never missed sending a holiday or birthday card.

Nancy is survived by her husband George; sister, Susie Habecker; nieces and nephews: Rick Moses III, husband of Susan; Joe Moses; Jim Moses, husband of Liliya Zabrodnyaya. A sister-in-law, Kathy Habecker, wife of the late Joseph G. Habecker, Jr. and their children, Michelle Habecker, and Jeffrey Habecker, husband of Sara; and great nieces and nephews, Rick IV, Eva Jane, Josie, Alisa, Cooper, and Chloe.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 440 St. Joseph Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. Guests are welcomed to a visitation from 10:30 AM until Mass. Interment to follow at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Condolences to the Family

Nancy was a very person.
I Believe I met Nancy when I was 18.  I and now in my 50’s…. Nancy was very friendly lady and kind hearted person.
She would also try to go out of her way to help if you need her.
I live very close to Nancy and George as Kabrina kirchner said to me today they were like are second parents… I wish Nancy could of heard her I think she would of cried. I know Nancy also tried hard to please people but never thought of her self as a mother. But she was good to my family.  Nancy would hide Easter eggs for the children, each Easter, and would put money in at the eggs, and instead of candy the kids would say, did you put candy in the eggs. No we put Change in they laugh…they remember going boating on a little boat they had with Nancy and George. George and Nancy had taken alot of pictures and had a room were they develop I’m right in their house so they would show the kids how to develop their own pictures. They thought that was the coolest thing in the world. They taught the kids so many different things things that they will never forget so for that, I say, thank you, Nancy and George. You’ve been amazing to all my kids. I remember you went to Holland brought back Holland shoes for John my oldest son and choose for Sarah, the Holland shoes the wooden ones must say Sarah around the house and drove me nuts clock clock clock she loved them wow and I believe Johnny still has his. Sarah cried because she don’t know whatever happened to hers she wish she had them today. Johnny had his name printed on the side he still has them and he’s in his 30s so thank you.
That’s not forget about all the trips to Burger King oh when would bag George come on George? Let’s go to Burger King and George was so tired from work. Come on George come on take them take them and George would finally say oh OK thanks George I know you were tired a lot of times, but somehow Nancy had that charm to convince George to take them. Oh yes and sometimes I went also and can’t forget about the birthdays. She just love birthdays. She would make special cakes for the kids on her birthday and one at six out in particularly the one that had a Barbie in it for Sarah and the middle oh, that was a beautiful cake. When we were running with the kid we were in the neighborhood with Jane Tibby, myself and Jane. She love walking their dogs or babysitting them or just visiting them. Unfortunately, Jane passed away then Teddy and now, Nancy I’m the only one left. She also cared about nature and especially hearing the bird’s behind the house which were husband’s. But children she loved!
Trisha, Kabrina Sarah and Johnny
Most of all she loved my child John,  Sarah, Kabrina and Trisha.
Nancy would check on my mom and she how she was doing every once and awhile. Which  my mom just past 3 weeks 11/28. I know Nancy a great place now, and no more pain, but she time on earth 🌎 will not be forgotten she left a lot of great memories and blessing. Nancy we will miss you very much god received an angels today!

Nancy lived her life with a great love and concern for others. She had a way of making every event joyous. I felt that the Lord really lead Nancy and George and listened to their prayers. She was always praying for everyone in need. We can keep Nancy’s spirit in our hearts by living from her example. A better friend can not be found.

MY HEART IS SADDENED BY THE NEWS OF NANCY’S PASSING BUT I TRUST THAT HER SOUL IS IN A PLACE OF PEACE AND COMFORT. NANCY WAS A FRIEND TO SO MANY OF US AS SHE SHARED WARMTH AND GENTLENESS EVERYWHERE SHE WENT. I HAVE OFTEN THOUGHT THAT IF THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE LIKE NANCY IN OUR WORLD, LIFE WOULD BE LOVLIER FOR EVERYONE. WE WILL REMEMBER YOUR LAUGHTER AND YOUR SMILE AND IT WILL BRING A SMILE.

The obituary for Nancy Lips brought back my recollections of my Aunt Miriam Maynard Caldwell.  The names of her sister and nieces in the Maynard and Habecker families were ones she would speak about lovingly when she returned to her Lancaster home base.  It’s interesting to think about the bonds we have in the connections to people we may never have met.  I pray that your family may find peace as you hold onto the memories of your loved one who lives on in your hearts.

Lieve George,

With deepest sympathy to Elsie Jane and family.  So sad to hear that Nancy has passed away.  I was her neighbor in Providence Township for many years and played with her, Elsie and Joe.  I have many fond memories of those days including going on the hay wagon to load the wagon with bales of hay and joining the Habecker family for a meal which included home grown corn.  Over the years I lost contact with the family; however, the memories remain.  RIP, Nancy
