Raymond B. Blossick, 83

Raymond B. Blossick, 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice.  Born in Shamokin, PA, he was the son of the late Mary and John R. Blossick.  Ray was the husband of 42 years to the late Elizabeth (Paparo) Blossick who died August 7, 2000.

Ray worked and retired from Armstrong World Industries.  He was a lay out leader in the stencil department and leader of quality of work and life improvements shops team.  Ray is responsible for creating two patents for Armstrong.

Ray served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 in the 147th F.A. Service Battalion connected to the 196th Regimental Combat team in Anchorage, Alaska during the Korean War.  They were known as Arctic Warriors.

Ray was a member and usher of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.  He went to Lancaster Catholic High School, but graduated from McCaskey High School.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a supporting member of PA Sheriffs Association and Travelers Protective Association.  He enjoyed fishing, gardening and “do it yourself” improvements.

Surviving are two daughters: Lisa M.wife of Tom Martin of East Petersburg and Diane M. wife of Christopher LaBelle of Sparta, NJ; a son: Michael R. Blossick of Pittsburgh; and a brother: John R. Blossick of Lancaster.  Ray was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren: Veronica and Abraham LaBelle.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 601 East Delp Road, Lancaster, PA 17601, with Rev. Paul Theisz as Celebrant.  A viewing will be held from 10-11AM at church.  Interment will be at St. Joseph New Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ray’s memory to the Lebanon VA Medical Center Hospice, 1700 S.
