Marian D. (Daugherty) Cox, 81

Marian D. (Daugherty) Cox, 81, of Lancaster, died Friday, June 20, 2014 at Mennonite Homes.

Born in Bethlehem, PA, she was the wife of the late Richard W. Cox, who died in 2003 and to whom she was married 48 years. She was the daughter of the late George Wallace and Esther (Hoere) Daugherty.

Marian was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Class of 1950, and went on to earn her BS Degree in Co-operative nursing from Cedar Crest College in Allentown. After her studies there, she graduated from the Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Abington, PA. She was employed as a registered nurse for 21 years by the Lancaster County CAP Program.

Marian was the past President of the Akron Women’s Civic Club, and a member of the Donegal Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church, Lancaster.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon E. Ha and her husband Steven J. of Lancaster, and her son, Curtis W. Cox and his wife Virginia of Lititz; and her granddaughter, Jacqueline Cox.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, June 30, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church, 517 N. Queen St., Lancaster, with Pastor Steven P. Verkouw officiating. Friends will be received from 6 to 7 PM Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Charles F. Snyder, Jr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, and again one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Burial in Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery will be private.

Memorial contributions in Marian’s memory may be made to Daughters of the American Revolution, 1776 D St. NW Washington, DC 20006.
