Dorothy L. Durante, 68

Dorothy L. Durante, 68, of Coatesville, PA, passed away at home on March 10, 2013.  Born in Cheat Bridge, WV, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Lillian (Daft) Shelton.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, John P. Durante on 1/9/13.

Dorothy was a homemaker for many years, but had worked as a stewardess for Eastern Airlines, where she met her husband, John, who was a career pilot for the airline.

Graduated from Elkins High School in 1963, she had a strong Christian faith.  She belonged to the Women’s Aglow and helped to establish the food closet for needy people at the Church of the Good Samaritan in Paoli, PA.  Dorothy was also a former member of the Young Republicans Club.

Dorothy found great joy in helping anyone in need and was dedicated to reading and studying her Bible.  She enjoyed going to flea markets and do-it-yourself projects around her home.

Surviving is a daughter, Christina Kramer, wife of K.C. of Lititz, PA, a son, John Durante, husband of Julie, of Coatesville, PA four grandchildren, Kathryn, Charlie, Joseph, and James, two brothers, Robert Shelton, husband of Christina, of Lancaster, and Jerry Shelton, husband of Sharon, of WV, three sisters, Gloria Miller wife of Daniel, of Elkins, WV, Janet Skidmore, wife of David, of Elkins, WV, and Kathy Moore, wife of Sonny, of Belington, WV.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Brown and Nancy Shelton, and one brother, Bud Shelton.

Private graveside services will be held for Dorothy at Witness Park Cemetery, Lititz, PA.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603.
