Harold L. Godshall, 67

February 16, 2018

On Friday February 16, 2018 Harold L. Godshall, D.C. left his life on earth for eternal life in Heaven. He fought a courageous 19-month battle with pancreatic cancer. During his battle he welcomed all to join him in prayer and encouraged them to be a “Warrior, not a Worrier”.

Born July 11, 1950, he was the son of the late Harold and Blanche (Fletcher) Godshall of East Petersburg. He was the loving husband of Joni (Gregor) Godshall. They would have celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on March 1.

Surviving, in addition to his wife are two daughters: Amy, wife of Jamie Gish, of Manheim and Kelli, wife of Kevin Martin, of Lancaster; 2 grandchildren, Bella and Ethan Martin; a sister, Lynne Yancha of Mifflinburg; a sister-in-law, Janet Colton, of Clifton Park, NY; two nieces Adrienne Beck, of Lancaster & Meghan Colton, of Clifton Park, NY.

Harold graduated from Hempfield High School in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Navy in October of 1970. He received the National Defense Service Medal while in the service. He attended Millersville University from 1972-1974. He went on to pursue his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA. He graduated in June of 1978 and established his practice in Millersville, PA in September of 1978.

Harold and Joni have owned and operated Godshall Chiropractic in Millersville for 39 years. Harold had a passion for holistic healthcare by facilitating God’s natural, self-healing design of the human body. He never looked at his work as a job but rather an honor. He enjoyed the care of and interaction with his patients.

Harold had many passions. He chose to put God 1st in his life. He had great faith in his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His wish was that the name of Jesus would be a household name. He was a partner at LCBC Church, Manheim since 2002 where he served in various roles. His family and friends meant everything to him. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, vacationing with the family, cruising with the church family, watching the birds and squirrels out his window and taking drives in the country. He enjoyed the simple pleasures. He had a compassionate heart and was willing and able to lend a hand to a friend in need.

The family will receive visitors between 5PM and 7PM, on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at the Charles F. Snyder, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 3110 Lititz Pike, Lititz, PA. Visitation will end promptly as we will be releasing lanterns outside, directly following the visitation. Visitation will continue at LCBC, Manheim, 2392 Mt. Joy Rd, Manheim, PA, at 9:30AM, Wednesday, February 28, 2018, where you are invited to join & greet the family for a breakfast buffet (Harold style-casual attire) followed by a memorial service beginning at 11AM. Interment will be held privately at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Harold’s memory may be sent to Penn Medicine Pancreatic Cancer Research c/o Andrew Bellet, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104. Make checks payable to Trustees of University of Penn & put in memo, “In memory of Harold Godshall, pancreatic cancer.”

Dear Joni Daughters and Family,
Herald is and was one of the most kind and loving people I have had the honor to know. Herald displayed the true meaning of being a Christian and that is love for God and people. Herald has touched my life and he will continue to touch our lives in these years to come. Blessings, Barbie Davis

Dr. G was a wonderful Doctor and human being.  I have known him for 35 years and he has always been a positive, strong individual.  I know he fought this disease with that same positivity and strength.  Prayers to the family and staff as they move forward from this great loss.

Dear Godshall family,
Your husband and father was more than a Doctor, he was a great missionary in his work place.  You always left his office with a word of encouragement.  That word came from God, and he sure left you know it.  He told me many times to leave my stress in Gods hands he will take care of it for you.  He would make comments like “God calls us to be …” or “God is in control of …”  I never left his presence not feeling Blessed.  I will be praying for your family.

Dear Godshall family,
My most deepest and sincere condolences on your loss. The times I met with Dr. Godshall he was a very kind soul. He told me to believe in the highpower that was going to provide healing. He taught me that if he “cracked” my neck he would be faced with a lawsuit. 🙂 I’m thankful to the Lord for meeting him and I know that one day Dr. Godshall and I will meet again. Blessings, Esmeralda Sanchez.

Dear Joni: I am sad at the news of Dr. Godshall’s passing. At the same time, I am rejoicing because he is now in heaven with the Lord. I was Dr. Godshall’s patient for over 30 years. When I moved to Annapolis, I drove up from Maryland to see him. When I lived in Colorado and Iowa, I always scheduled an appointment with him when I flew in for Christmas. I will always remember his wonderful sense of humor; and most of all, his passionate faith. I loved all the cards and quotes taped to the ceiling for patients to read while lying on the examining table. We will see you again, Dr. Godshall. Blessings, Donna McGovern

Joni,
From the first time Harold treated me (more than 30 years ago) he was an astute practioner that alleviated my pain & gave sage advice on how to maintain my health. It was difficult for me to maintain my regular chiro treatments since my 3rd lifetime cancer diagnosis in August, 2017.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I know Harold is in good hands.
With heartfelt sympathy,
Rachael D. Wywadis

I continue to pray for peace for all of you. Please know Dr. Godshall and all of you are loved not just by me, but by our Heavenly Father.

Dr Godshall helped me in many ways; as a very happy patent, laughter, and general conversation;  If you had a pain that needed help, he was the man to take care of it. I loved his kidding while in the office as a patient because it made you feel so comfortablen while being treated. I admired him so much and will miss him very much.  God gave him the ability to heal pain and he alwys did his best to achieve that.  God will take care of him

To Joni and family:  Dr. G. was fabulous.  He always fixed me and we also had many laughs at my appointments.  One I like to remember is that he would push a spot on my back and I would go “OH” “AH” “OOO” and then he would ask me what language I was speaking.  I know Doc is happy and peaceful.  That gives me a great feeling along with my grief!       Edie Lunger
