Steven “Whip” Hahn, 63

April 09, 2023

Steven “Whip” Hahn, 63, of Conestoga, made last call on Sunday, April 9, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late George F. and Betty Jane (Shaub) Hahn. He was the husband of Rose Hahn who he was happily married to for 40 wonderful years.

Whip was a 1977 graduate from Lancaster Catholic High School. He was the proud owner of Steven T Hahn Plumbing & Heating Inc. Some of his favorite hobbies were fishing, golfing, and skiing. He and his family loved to travel to their cottage in Canada where they have decades of fond memories. When not in Canada, he enjoyed making his rounds at the Riverside and Hubley Clubs. This was who he was, and his family loved him for being just that.

In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by his two daughters, Danielle (Ryan) Eshleman, of Pequea, and Casey (Mason) Mimnaugh, of Philadelphia; sisters, Kathy (Jeff) Paxton, of Lancaster, and Nicky (David) Hahn, of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, Melanie Hahn, Melissa (Jeff) Siegrist, and Megan (Scott) Swink; and nephews, Matthew (Heather) Iddings, and Warren (Jana) Hahn; his dog, Gus; and his four-legged grandchildren, Rupert, Bo, Reagan, and Molson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Abe and David Hahn.

A celebration of Whip’s life will be held at he and Rose’s home in Conestoga beginning at 2PM on Saturday, April 15, 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Whip’s name to Hospice & Community Care, P.O. Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125 or online at www.HospiceCommunity.org/gift.

Whip’s family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Hospice & Community Care for their presence and support to Whip and his family.

Dearest Rose, Danielle, Casey and families, Greg and I are so deeply sorry for the loss of Whip. He was always so friendly, welcoming and kind to Linds and me at the camp. I know I haven’t been there much in recent years since losing Linds, it became a sad place for me to be, so many great memories there, and now just that much sadder with Whip gone. My heart goes out to all of you. He will be much missed.

Rose, Danielle, Casey and family so sorry to hear of your loss.  Whip was always kind to my children and I back in the Assateague days.  I did not really know him in the day to day, but fun, kind and generous are the memories I will always have of him.  My love, condolences and prayers of comfort for you all.

Haven’t seen Whip since moving away many years ago, but memories of our times playing football for St Anthony’s, camping at Assateague Island and wandering through Lancaster on our annual Halloween walks will forever be etched into my mind. Condolences to Rose and the rest of the family. Great guy- one of a kind.

We haven’t spoken for a few years but the loyalty I’ve always had was from how we were brothers since HS! Hard to believe I won’t get that last visit as you were ALWAYS on our list to see when we came to Lancaster. Always great to see you, Rose and the girls! I love you man! I will get some Rolling Rock and celebrate you! Tears!

To the Hahn family, I’m very sorry for your loss, I wish you peace in your time of mourning. Whip and I go way back to when we were pre-teenagers, and as you kmow, like all things we lost touch with each other as we grow older, we grew up on Conestoga Blvd. in Lancaster, so I was quite shocked to see his obituary, anyway I will pray for your family and wish you all well.

My heart and prayers go out to “Whips” family. Very sad news. A life too short but seems well lived. I still have so many high school memories and even some beyond with Whip. Such a big personality and a big “NAD”! (inside humor)

I won’t be able to get to Penna for the life celebration this Saturday but know that I am there in spirit. God rest your soul my friend and God Bless your family
