Lester H. “Kid” Heiserman III, 76

November 10, 2023

Lester H. “Kid” Heiserman III, 76, of Lancaster, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Lancaster General Hospital.

Born in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Lester H. and Jane (Fergason) Heiserman II. He was the husband of Barbara A. Heiserman and they were married for 50 years.

Les was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Army. He was highly decorated having received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and many more. Les was a member of the Millersville VFW Post 7294 and Lancaster Post 1690. Every Veterans Day, Les would get together with his buddies that he served alongside in Vietnam. He enjoyed watching old Western and War movies, playing golf, and spending time in the great outdoors. His family cherishes the memories of yearly vacations they would take to Ocean City Maryland and they have even continued that tradition with their own families. But above all else, Les loved his family, especially his grandkids and great-grandkids and the time they spent together. He also loved his four dogs, Molly, Reese, Kona, and Jake.

In addition to his wife, Barbara, Les is survived by his children, Cherie L. Heiserman, Lester H. (Erin) Heiserman IV, Shane (Jackie) D. Heiserman, and Brandon N. Heiserman; his brother, Dennis Heiserman; his grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Shane, Tori, Hailey, Mason, Jackson, Leilynn, and Jayce; and his great-grandsons, Carson and Caden.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Barry Heiserman, Moke Hoetzel, and Randy Heiserman.

At his request, there will not be a public service. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family.

I served with the “Kid” with the Delta Raiders in Viet Nam in 1968. (D company 2/501st Infantry 101st Airborne Division) I was there where he was wounded in March 1968. He was and still is a hero. My heart aches for his love ones. I miss you Les. Love you brother. Airborne – All the Way.
