Condolences to the Family

October 06, 2013

Craig was a kind and selfless man.  He had a great smile and would rather listen to what you had to say than talk about himself.  He was truly a man of character and embodied goodness in all he did.  He was my cousin and everytime I saw him it brought back memories of my Uncle Joe.  The apple didnt fall far from the tree  I will miss him but I know he lives and we will meet again in the place that our Father in Heaven has prepared for all his children

I knew Craig in High School and then caught up with him again later in life, mostly at the Lucky Dog for karaoke.   I loved hearing him sing!   He was a nice and gentle man and I will remember him fondly.  I am thinking of you in your sorrow at losing him.   Dottie Young

Sherri, just want you to know that our family so appreciates the great care you gave Craig through his illness  You completed his life and I know his best years were with you The tributes were magnificent , moving and fitting.  But can be summed up by saying he was truly a good and decent man and that’s the way he lived every day of his life. He will be missed by all of us

Craig was a dedicated and skillful paramedic. His compassion was evident in the way he treated his patients and their families. I had the privilege of working beside him for many years. Craig always made me laugh and helped to ease the stress that was ever present in the Emergency Department. He will be missed. My condolence to his family and friends.

My memories of Craig are “pre-EMS”; Sixth grade in Mr. Hussar’s class; middle school antics; high school growing up.  A true blue and awesome guy to run around with a generally hang around.  Went to our first Jethro Tull concert at Hershey in 1972, followed by others…all a good time.  Hopefully, Craig is standing “Where No Man Stands Alone”.  Jeff Brandt, Lebanon, PA

Craig was a meaningful part of my life 13 years ago. He was a great friend, surrounded by awesome friends, and we had a lot of fun singing karaoke, seeing Jimmy Buffett, hanging out at The Village, Lucky Dog, and Valentino’s. He had a quiet presence about it and a great laugh, an awesome sense of humor and dedicated himself to a life of service. He meant a lot ot me then, when I needed someone to lean on and I have always appreciated his warm spirit- and the time I spent with him and those closest to him. I recall he danced with me once and only once- a slow song- after hours at the Village, to Crowded House’s “Don’t Dream it’s Over” played by the infamous DJ Paul, yet another dear friend. Thinking of you in your sorrow, sending thoughts of peace and comfort from afar- so glad he had someone special in his life- he so deserved that. He made a difference to many. He meant so much to even more.

I first met Craig Hohman aka “Ho” when I became an EMT in 1994. He helped our EMT class and I eventually got to work with him when I became employed at LEMSA in 2002.  I learned a lot from this man.  I know that he is already missed by all who had the privilege to interact with him, be it as a coworker or even as a friend. God bless any and all that have been touched by this man’s incredibile knowledge and gift for training others.  Donna Marie Patterson (Galebach)

A true hero to many. It was a pleasure to know and work with Craig over the past 20 years. He was a friend as well as a mentor. His legacy and inspiration will be the foundation for many future providers. We will miss him deeply. Mark & Angie Berry

My condolences to all that love and know Craig. Though it seems like another lifetime for me, it was many years ago that I had the blessing of working with Craig at Medic 1. Most of our free time was spent with Craig educating me on the nuances of Jethro Tull. To this day, I believe that he was their biggest fan. Then again, he could make everyone feel like he was their biggest fan (and friend)…from the seasoned Medic to the greenest of EMT’s. Though he may not have known it, he was a blessing to all that spent time with him. Rest in eternal peace Ho. Neal Logdahl

September 12, 2013

Always loved the fun and good natured competition between us medics at LGH and the “God Squad” of Medic 1, of which Ho was such an instumental part.  I actually didn’t even know his name for many years because no one ever called him anything but Ho!  🙂  All of us in the EMS community feel your deep loss. Your family is in our prayers.

Sherri,
We were very lucky to have known “Ho” .  His love and compassion for public service was evident in every call her had.  Heaven is very lucky to have gained an angel so early.  Take care of yourself.  If you need anything do not hesitate to ask.

Ho was the most caring person in the medical field that I ever encountered. His soft voice, no matter what the situation, put patients and responders at ease. i miss him now, as I always will. Sincerely, Spike

My sincere sympathies to you.  I was so fortunate to have Craig as my partner and coworker at Medic 1.  His kindness and thougthfulness were supported by his dedication to his patients, colleagues, friends and family.  I was constantly amazed at the calming effect he had on everyone around him – especially in a tense environment, a laugh that would lighten the room, and carefully chosen words that would heal hearts in pain.  These memories live on in me and others he touched.  My thougts and prayers are with you.

Craig wil be sorely missed not just by me but also by my son Marc whom Craig was very fond of. Rest easy Craig your brother firefighter Randy  Pfautz and Marc Pfautz.

September 12, 2013

I recently shared a night of karaoke with Ho at Valentino’s along with Chucky Colson…. Ho seemed so happy to be out with Sherri and able to be doing one of the things he loved to do….sing.  He and I would remenisce many times over the years about our singing experience in Stone Harbor one night.  We had such a great time that night and so I will remember Ho from that evening.  What a great guy… I never heard him say anything bad about anybody.  A true gentleman!  You will be missed Ho, but surely never forgotten my friend!  We will meet again…until then!

September 12, 2013

Sherry, I knew Ho many years as I was EMT for 12 years at Hempfield and Manheim Township Ambulance Companies, when he was a Paramedic with then St Joseph Hospital. He was a gentile soul and always so kind, I still hear his calming voice and great laugh and see his beautiful smile. He was an awesome person, he will be missed by those who loved him. I am so glad he was loved by you. Deb Keck Devine

Craig was a wonderful man and my family would like to express our condolences. During my father’s 22 year battle with heart disease he made many runs transporting him to the ER. And his skills provided excellant care of my father, Ronald H. Sheaffer, also a founding member of the West End Ambluance Association. Godspeed Craig.

Sherry,
Some men leave their mark on the world and our hearts by the way they live and the differences they make in the lives that they touch.
Let each tear that falls be a gentle reminder of the love that you and Craig shared with each other and that you each made a difference in each others lives and that is a gift that was given to you both by God. Always remember that no loss, sorrow , tiime or distance can ever take that away.  May God give you and the family the comfort, strength and peace in the coming days and months.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.  Hope to see you when you are home.
Love,
Deb and Mitch

Sherri & family: Our thoughts and prayers for God’s peace and comfort at this time. Craig was a terrific man and good friend. I always looked forward to seeing him at our high school reunions. We are thankful for the time we have known him and been with him. His heart for public service as a first responder is unmatched. What a joy it was to be in theatre productions with Craig. He was a great actor and enjoyed playing his various roles. My life has been enriched as a result of knowing him. I will miss him, but I look forward to seeing him again on the other side!God bless you & keep you!Greg Barton/ Penn Manor Class of 1974

September 12, 2013

Craig was a class act, and it was evident upon our introduction to him.  We are diminished by this untimely departure, and the world is both, poorer for it, but wealthier to have hosted Craig as one its darling sons.  To live in the hearts of others, is not to die.  We love you Craig – Debby & Benjamin (your sister & brother from your extended Tull family).

September 12, 2013

Sherri,
Craig was my best friend and like a brother. I first met him at West Lancaster Fire Company 32 years ago. All of my adult life I always had Craig to talk to and help me out. He was there for me when my father died, he helped me through a divorce, he encouraged me to become a Police Officer. I can’t think of any major event that he was not part of. We travelled all over the east coast and the United Kingdom mainly to see Jethro Tull and other bands. You only heard some of the stories. He was not only a good man but a great man. I loved him very much and will miss him. You and your family will be in my prayers. You were the best thing that ever happened to him and he said that often.

Jesus said ” Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted ” Matthew 5:4  I remember Ho way back when I was an EMT, he would be working on Medic 1 and come out to assist us at Manheim . Then I became a Paramedic and I would see him on calls when I would request a cornor .  EMS has lost a great provider !  Its a shame that all the new ones didnt have the privledge to know and work with him …May God bless you all of his family and friends that will miss him dearly !!

September 11, 2013

My memories of Craig’s friendship will be with me forever.  We were as close as brothers, in middle and high school.  He did what few of us get to do…follow his passion and stay true to himself.  He was a true-blue friend, loyal and supportive without peer.  My grief is clearly shared with many whom I do not know, and who also do not have the very early memories of Craig.  But we share the wonderful experience of having known a really great guy who touched all he came in contact with.
