Henry C. “Clay” Burkholder, Jr, 84

Henry C. “Clay” Burkholder, Jr., aged 84, passed away at Hospice and Community Care on Monday, December 4, 2023. He was born in Lancaster, PA, to Henry C. Burkholder, Sr., and Catharine (Falck). Clay was the beloved husband of Barbara (Forrey) Burkholder.

Clay was a graduate of F&M University and dedicated his career as a caseworker for the Welfare Department of Pennsylvania, where he made a positive impact on the lives of many.

Clay enjoyed a full and vibrant life, marked by various interests: He was a dedicated fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, cheering for his team with passion. Clay found joy in visiting Ocean City, MD, where he experienced relaxation and cherished moments. He was an avid golfer, enjoying the greens of the Four Seasons Golf Club in Landisville.

Clay is survived by his wife, Barbara (Forrey); his stepchildren: Steven Gainer (Sally) of Ronks and Jennifer Wilhelm (Ralph) Winter Haven, FL; grandchildren: Johnny and David Gainer; Great-granddaughters: Mia and Leela Wilhelm as well as 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son in law, Ralph and his brothers: Nicholas and Peters.

Henry C. “Clay” Burkholder, Jr. will be remembered for his dedication to his career, his love for sports, and his enjoyment of travel and leisure activities. His presence will be missed, and his memory will live on through the fond recollections of family and friends.

We will miss Clay very much! We have many fun memories of times spent with him and Barb!! His suffering is over now and he is healed and playing golf in Heaven and flying kites that won’t fall in the ocean! Barb you have our deepest sympathy and love!! 💕💕
