Charles “Chub” Chretien, 78

August 11, 1945 - December 18, 2023

Charles “Chub” Chretien passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on August 11, 1945. He was the husband of Doris Hershey Chretien for 53 years. Together they raised four boys: Dale, Wayne, Coleman, and Patrick, and one girl, Deborah.

He worked at Trojan Yacht, building boats. He also was a skilled automotive mechanic for many years. His boat building skills led him to design and build 2 exceptionally hand-crafted boats in his garage. He was, indeed, a skilled craftsman, and he designed and built 2 hand-crafted wagons along with other wood crafts that he donated to Hospice and Community Care for their auction.

Chub was an exceptional friend to many and was always willing to lend a helping hand to others. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine, and he was a member of the Stehman United Methodist Church.

Chub was well-read and self-educated. Many people went to Chub to ask how to do or how to fix this or that. He loved history, fishing, and boating.

Chub’s loving companionship will be missed by Doris, his family, and many friends.

A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Friday, December 22, 2023, at Stehman Church Cemetery, 485 Indian Run Rd. Millersville, PA 17551.

Don’t know if you remember me but I am sure you remember my husband George. I have so many memories at Rock Hill Garage with Chub. Please accept my deepest sympathy to you and your whole family. George passed 11-1-21 after 55 years of marriage. It is definately a journey and I am happy you have five children to help. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Mary Ann Lefever
