Delfo G. Garbini, 92
December 08, 2023
Delfo G. Garbini, 92, of Millersville, went to be with the Lord on December 8th, 2023. Born in Penns Grove, N.J., he was the son of the late Alassandro and Maria Garbini. He worked for over 35 years at RCA as an electrical engineer.
He was an avid athlete, especially golf, which in his mind, he was a PGA Pro. Del was a lifelong New York Yankee and West Virginia Mountaineer fan. His support of the Yankees sometimes wavered depending on where they were in the standings. Delfo will be remembered for his unique sense of humor and practical jokes.
Delfo is survived by his pride and joy, son Douglas, J. and daughter Dellyne E. Tooth (Daniel). He was the grandfather to Joseph (Alissa), Danielle (Jamar) and John (Shelby). He was Pop Pop to Jayden, Kaylanie, Myka and Addalen; brother to Clara and Emo; and an uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Bettie E.
The family will receive guests at St. Philip the Apostle Church, 2111 Millersville Pike, Lancaster, PA 17603, on Friday December 15, 2023. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin 11am. Interment to follow at Conestoga Memorial Park.
Contributions in Delfo’s name may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Central PA., www.kfcp.org.

Condolences to the Family

Del’s son Doug and I, along with many of Doug’s friends, spent many fun days at the Garbini house on Zarker Road in Lancaster, PA. I have many fond memories of those days. Del was one of those Dads who gave Doug and friend’s the freedom to play without too much parental hassle, allowing us enough creativite expression to release our wild but without endangering ourselves too much. Yes, there may have been a few explosions during our rocket launches, but nobody was seriously hurt. We also enjoyed trips to the Garbini cabin in the Pocono Mountains where we had many great adventures during our formative years. It was always easy to talk with Del, even during those awkward teenage years where parents were to be avoided whenever possible. Del told us interesting stories of his work as an engineer at RCA and showed us some of their latest creations that he brought home, like the first microwave oven in the neighbohood long before those became mainstream household items. When I last talked to Del, his easy smile and affable personality made it very easy to pick-up where we had left off nearly 50 years ago. I will miss Del and I hope the joy and support that he provided for his family will be enough to carry them through this loss.
